Become a Member of Our Union Today

OSEA Members

We Are the Oregon School Employees Association, AFT Local 6732!

Our union’s membership is vital and keeps our voice strong. Together, we bargain good contracts for fair wages, benefits and working conditions for all. We advocate for Oregon’s schools, students and children. We look out for each other and our families. In every OSEA chapter, membership is the foundation of our strength.

OSEA Members Are Stronger Together

Founded in 1938 by a small group of school janitors, we are a strong labor organization representing more than 23,000 public and private education employees throughout Oregon. We are an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which represents 1.8 million workers.

Our membership includes K-12 classified; Head Start teachers and staff; ESD employees; privatized custodial, food service, and transportation workers (such as First Student bus drivers); library staff; parks and rec staff; and community college classified.

We proudly stand for fully funding education, early childhood programs and higher education for the benefit of all Oregonians. Our OSEA family makes a difference. Join us!

Why Join a Union?

A union can improve your workplace and give you a voice on the job. Millions of hardworking Americans and their families have benefited from the power behind union representation. For education employees, having a good union contract and representation is more important than ever. Led by a volunteer Board of elected members, OSEA’s leadership and staff provide the very best advocacy, representation and service to Oregon education employees.

If you have questions about organizing a union, call us. Do you want to know more about negotiating a contract? Is your independent labor organization looking for more support? Over the years, we have grown because employees started asking these kinds of questions. They found answers when they began talking with us about building their own chapter in OSEA.

Call 800-252-6732 to find out more about becoming a member of OSEA.
