Member Benefits
In addition to representation and protection under your Collective Bargaining Agreement, there are distinct advantages to becoming a member of OSEA. Because of our affiliation with the national American Federation of Teachers (AFT), union members have access to a variety of free insurances, free legal advice (and availability of a low-cost monthly plan), multiple discounts and services, as well as hardship protections such as mortgage assistance and strike benefits. For reference in the use of some of these benefits, our national union affiliate is the AFT; our local union name and number is OSEA Local 6732 (some AFT benefits are administered by Union Plus, which numerous unions partner in).
The insurance benefits below are provided at NO COST to OSEA members. Non-members are not eligible. Contact your field representative for more information or to file a claim.
- Occupational Liability Insurance ($1 million)
- Violent death rider within the OLI policy ($50,000)
- $5,000 Life Insurance for new members (must sign up to access this free AFT benefit)
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance ($5,000) – to specify a beneficiary for this benefit, CLICK HERE for the simple online form (our local union name and number is OSEA Local 6732)
