Education and Labor Advocacy Fund

Contributing to ELAF, OSEA’s political action fund, is the easiest and most effective way you can help elect candidates who support our issues, pass ballot measures that reflect our values and defeat those that don’t. It is funded solely through voluntary contributions, not through dues dollars.

You don’t have to contribute much to make a difference. In fact, it may not cost you a thing if you take advantage of the Oregon Political Tax Credit. Members filing individually can claim a tax credit of up to $50 for contributions made during the tax year (up to $100 if filing jointly).

Our minimum suggested contribution is just $2 per month; if you work 10 months out of the year, that’s $20. With the tax credit you get your 20 bucks back at the end of the year and have the satisfaction of doing your part to advance the interests of classified employees.

Your contributions speak volumes: Thanks to ELAF, school districts throughout Oregon have been able to pass millions of dollars in general obligation bonds and local option levies that have helped build new schools and rehire and retain classified employees. You can also rest assured that ELAF contributions only go to candidates whose positions and voting history align with our values: a strong public education system with effective employee protections and robust collective bargaining rights.

There are two ways you can contribute to ELAF:(1) via monthly payroll deduction; or (2) through a one-time contribution.
